How many times has this happened to you?  You’re sitting in your chair or taking a walk outside, and a really bright idea strikes you.  Without thinking, you pull everything together and move into action.  While the idea is fantastic and the passion behind this is astronomical, you haven’t really thought everything through. Since you’ve put your idea out there without allowing it to reach maturity, you’re constantly trying to keep the pieces from falling apart.

It’s those tiny pieces, the small fires, that keep you from being fully present in the lives around you.  You might have missed a meeting. You forgot to deliver a package. The email you sent skipped over important details.  Eventually, the small fires rage out of control and escalate.  As a result, your colleagues wonder if they can count on you to make the meetings.  Your client wonders if they’re going to get the completed package you promised them.

You have ONE Triple Dog Dare Challenge today.  Read the challenges and close your eyes to connect with what the challenge is asking of you.  Allow yourself to walk through the experience and be sure to capture as much as you can with your words as well as intent.

Triple Dog Dare Challenge #1: On a piece of paper, write down ONE thing you need to complete. Go and complete that ONE task.  Focus on it until you’ve completed it.  If it’s a long project and it needs to be broken down into segments, then focus on that ONE segment.

Example: I’m working on a project right now so I’ve written the task on a sticky note and placed it on my laptop so I can remain focused should my mind start to wander.  Each project gets 45 minutes of intentional, focused attention.  This goes for my breaks, exercise, and projects.
