I have many choices offered to me throughout the day.
Theme of the Day
When presented with many options, know that only one of them is the best choice.
Welcome to Day 33 of the challenge. If you’re jumping in right now, be sure to check out the Welcome to the Triple Dog Dare to get started. The previous days are listed at the bottom of each post with a hyperlink.
The Seven of Cups appears in your life today to remind you that not all that glitters is gold. You may be tempted with many different rewards in your business, but know that you must do your research to find out the truth. Before you make a solid decision, make sure you have checked in with your gut and have gathered sufficient information to stand behind it.
If you want to thrive, focus on the thing that you can control.
A friend of mine share the news that he was leaving his old job to find a new job. In fact, he was looking at four new job prospects. He grew tired of the stress from the old job and it was taking a toll on his health. This was exciting news because he needed to spread his wings to fly to a higher level. My medium abilities freaked him out a bit, so I kept my thoughts to myself — out of respect for him. What I can’t share with the actual person, I write them down to appease the spirits or they’ll never leave me alone.
When people have too many choices, they make bad choices. – Thom Browne
All that showed up in my head was the Seven of Cups. All of these yummy options at these new jobs: higher pay, more flexibility, a new landscape, better professional development opportunities, and more. However, the more he shared about this new job, the more yellow lights flashed all around him. I didn’t want to rain on his parade and ruin his moment of joy, so I kept the vision to myself. Remember, he didn’t want me to share my visions with him because “he doesn’t believe in the woo stuff”.
He aced the interviews and ended up having to pick one out of the four options. We celebrated. A few exciting weeks into the job that he always dreamed of, the company revealed that it was disbanding that specific department. He was in shock and couldn’t believe how that happened. And no, he didn’t ask if I “saw” that coming because he reflected back to the day of celebration when I was a bit cautiously optimistic.
The same applies to business and it can be summed up in one quote:
Too many choices can overwhelm us and cause us not to choose at all. For businesses, this means that if they offer us too many choices, we may not buy anything. – Sheena Lyengar
This video is very powerful and says all I want to share with you:
You have TWO Triple Dog Dare Challenges today. Read the challenges and close your eyes to connect with what the challenge is asking of you. Allow yourself to walk through the experience and be sure to capture as much as you can with your words as well as intent.
Triple Dog Dare Challenge #1: Grab a piece of paper and pen or you can do this on a Word/Google Doc. Create three columns: Choices, Pros, Cons. Write out all the choices and options that you have in front of you at the moment. Write. Them. All. Down. Once you’ve exhausted the list, then take some time to write out the Pros and then the Cons. If you don’t have enough information, do research and become empowered with information.
From there, you can make an informed choice as to which options will bring you great reward.
Triple Dog Dare Challenge #2: Examine the choices that you’ve been presented and choose one thing to focus on. It can be the development of a product or a program. Pour all of your energy to make that choice you’ve chosen and make it into a reality. Create a focus plan as to what needs to be done to make it a reality and take action.
Once you’ve completed your Triple Dog Dare Challenges, celebrate them! I invite you to step out of your comfort zone and share with us in the comments below so we can celebrate with you.
