Welcome to Day 7 of the challenge. If you’re jumping in right now, be sure to check out the Welcome to the Triple Dog Dare to get started. The previous days are listed at the bottom of each post with a hyperlink.
I will remain true to myself.
Theme of the Day
Know your core values and yourlife will be easier to navigate.
Have you ever been in a relationship and that person seemed PERFECT? After you’ve spent some time with that person, you learn about some things that do not sit well with you. You learn that they’re still driving by their ex-lover’s house at 3 am. You learn about how that person has several warrants out for their arrest, but they have an alias. You also learn they love cats, and this is a rare find.
By this time, you’re in one of three camps:
- Run and run fast because you don’t have time for that level of insanity in your life.
- Shout, “But, I love this person and I’ve spent two weeks with this person and..” Because you’re too far down the rabbit hole to see the destruction this relationship will bring into your life.
- Break it off, but say that y’all can still be friends.
Despite the choices you’ve made regarding the relationship, it all comes down to your values.
Values are who you are when no one is watching – Anonymous
The Lovers appear because when you start a business, it’s all rainbows and unicorns for about a week, and then reality hits. In that nascent stage, all the grand ideas overshadow the grimmer realities of being an entrepreneur. You’ll be faced with decisions that will determine the fate of your business. As you navigate the world of trying to grow your business, help people, make money, and more, you find your values being tested at each turn.
Every decision will be made based on the core values you’ve established for yourself. When you make decisions and do things based on what is important and what is the right thing to do, then your business will flourish — over time. When you make decisions based on things that go against your core values, then others will sense that and you’ll start to lose business.
Many years ago, I was part of a coaching group. It was one of those group coaching programs where a bunch of people signed up to learn something new to apply to their business each week. I did my due diligence and did my research. The coach seemed promising and I knew I would learn quite a bit from her so I could grow my business. About three weeks into the program, it became evident that the coach did not know what she was doing and was only doing it for the money. Many people within the group were dis-satisfied and her program crumbled.
Over time, people shared their experiences with others about the program and slowly she had to rebrand herself because no one would do business with her anymore. To this day, I have not seen or heard from her anywhere.
Every day you will be tested. Situations will crop up and it’s important to be SOLID on who you are as a business owner. Your value system will challenged on a constant bases. The Lovers steps into your life to remind you of who you are as a person and how you need to continue to run your business with the highest integrity.
Always make decisions with your core values and beliefs in mind. If you are not sure what they are, then it is time that you establish them. – Wendy Nicole Anderson
