Positive Affirmation of the Day:
I am blessed and have established a strong foundation of success in family and finances.
Central theme of your writing piece for the day:
Ten of Earth brings forth two heavy hitters: family and money. The two elements combined can be deadly or beneficial. Think about all those books where the family knocks off the wealthy heir just to get their paws on the family fortune. Or the family becomes destitute and has to work together to make their lives work.
Family Life: What does it mean to you? Some people define family as a mom, dad, and children. Others include people outside of the biological realm. A neighbor might be a family member by proximity rather than genetically.
In the classroom, the concept of family took on many different forms. In some instances, it was a young teenager and her grandmother. In other instances, it was the parents and their kids, the grandparents, and aunts and uncles. Certain financial situations forced family dynamics to change. And there were families that were blended, or had same sex parents, or _______________ fill in the blank.
People expand their family while others shrink theirs. We are all different. Our families are different.
How does your character look at family? Do they long for a large family where everyone gets together for the holidays? Do they long for a small family where they can pick up and go on the road?
What is the family like? Is the mother controlling? Is the father absent? Is the brother rebellious? How do these factors play into the bigger picture?
Financial Security: It’s time to squirrel away some of your money so you can establish a lasting foundation for your future. Ten of Earth indicates that financial security is on its way, but you must be proactive. Thinking and dreaming about this impending financial security is not going to happen unless you take ACTION. It drives me nuts when people say they are thinking and visualizing money coming their way — and that’s all they ever do. All the while their bank account is hemorrhaging.
Issues and beliefs about money stem from family values. If your parents squandered their money, then more than likely the offspring will adopt the same belief system. If your parents hoarded their money, then this thought process continues on with the children.
I thought this was a neat article – Parent’s Attitude Towards Money and Kids. There is a part where parents raid their kids piggy bank. Kind of unethical if you ask me, but to each their own.
Here is another article that has a bunch of really neat information and surveys that uncovers people’s attitudes towards money.
How is your character with money? Does your character save or squander his/her money? Why?
However, there are children who do the opposite of what their parents do. Their parents might have massive debt and 6 credit cards — all carrying a high balance. The children might resent the parents for that debt and opt to go a different route.
Does your character have a high credit card balance or does your character believe credit is horrendous? Show us what that look s like for your character.
I Dare You To Take Action Prompt:
Define what a family is to you. Take a look at your family dynamics. Write down a list of all the people that have been a part of your family. Identify three key components that you liked about each family member and write it down. Why did you like those specific characteristics? Identify three aspects of each family member you did not like and why.
Now define what a family is to your character. Are they similar? Are they different? In what ways? Why?
Ten of Earth may bring forth two heavy hitters in a sense that family and money stirs up all sorts of emotions, it also encourages you to look for magic in the little things. You might want to look for the smile in the faces of those around you. Joy comes to those in different ways. Perhaps it’s the knowing that people are around them or the thought of that quarter in their pocket. If you look at the small things, that’s where the true magic and joy come from.
